On April 24, Kinga Hamvai, head of MNB Arts and Culture, held a guided tour on our exhibition Y-Profile at the Ludwig Museum specifically for colleagues from the Central Bank of Hungary (MNB). MNB Arts and Culture organizes numerous exhibitions each year. However, when the artworks are not on display at these exhibitions, they are placed throughout the bank’s buildings.
It is of particular importance to us that bank employees can engage with the collection through targeted guided tours and educational sessions. These occasions allow them to interact with artworks in a new context and to gain knowledge about their significance Hungarian contemporary art history.
We regularly invite artists to participate in our Meet the Artist series, which is also held for bank employees. Artists from the collection like Attila Kondor and János Szirtes already participated in the series. During these events, artists share insights into their practice while viewing their works installed throughout the bank buildings. Additionally, it is a tradition that the head of the division leads a guided tour for employees through each exhibition from the collection – such as Between Spheres or Image Practices.
The Y-Profile exhibition focuses on showcasing artists from the millennial generation represented in the collection. Curated by Gábor Rieder, the exhibition is open to the public from March 14 to April 27, 2025.
During guided tours, employees not only can recognise artworks from their everyday work environment, but also, they gain a deeper understanding of the exhibition’s themes and messages. The division’s purpose is eventually to contribute to the broader recognition and support of contemporary art in Hungary by shaping perspectives and fostering engagement among bank employees.
