Central Bank of Hungary employees were introduced to the most significant works of János Szirtes at the second Meet the artist event

On the 28th of February, MNB staff welcomed János Szirtes, who spoke not only about himself and his art, but also about his performances, his teaching practice and his profession.

János Szirtes (1954) considers himself primarily as a performance artist and a teacher, and only after that a visual artist. According to him, he teaches what he does. Among the works in the MNB Buda Centre there are several of his major works from his early period. In front of the works he explained the experiences that led him to create his paintings, as well as their technical aspects. There is no room for chance in his work, he knows from the beginning what the end result will be, as he states ‘I experience painting as a performance’.
